Art Builds Florida

Art Builds Florida is a statewide student art contest. It is designed to encourage student artwork and promote Florida’s strategic plan to further the development of arts and culture throughout Florida, Culture Builds Florida’s Future.

The contest is open to all Florida high school students grades 9 through 12. Entries can be submitted between September 8, 2008 and November 7, 2008.

Florida KidCare Video Contest

Florida KidCare is looking for bright, talented middle and high school students who can shoot a 30 second commercial promoting Florida KidCare. The commercial needs to target those students ages 12 to 18; in other words, this whole project is based on peer-to-peer advertising. You, a 12 to 18 year old, are going to encourage other 12 to 18 year olds to apply for Florida KidCare.

Act-Out For Health gets students both behind and in front of the camera as they write and produce their own television commercial promoting the Florida KidCare children’s health insurance program. This fall, students can also get involved by entering the new print ad component of the contest. Winning PSA and print ad entries could be used in Florida KidCare’s winter campaign this January, and statewide winners earn a $5000 scholarship!

San Diego Comic-Con 2008!

As some of you know I spent last weekend in San Diego surrounded by comics, manga, movies, and people in costume! It was a blast! I saw a lot of crazy things and brought home some super goodies for you all!! Some will be given out as prizes for Teen Read Week, some will be given out at the Breaking Dawn party, and some are books that need to be reviewed!!

Breaking Dawn Release Party!!!

Okay Twilight Fans, we’ve got fantastic news for you!

We were lucky enough to receive 1 of only 100 kits filled with fun fan stuff for a Breaking Dawn Release Party!

We have buttons, stickers, a DVD with the Movie Trailer, and fun trivia questions!! They also sent us a CD Rom game to find out if your true self allies with Jacob or Edward!

The Party will be August 5th at 2 p.m.
