Goodbye 2010!

As 2010 comes to a close, we here at the Leesburg Public Library want to wish you all a safe and happy New Year!
We have had a very busy year here in the youth department. We said goodbye to both Jacob (our teen librarian) and Jessica (our supervisor). The staff and patrons miss them both. This has given us the opportunity to welcome new blood to the department. Sandy and Penny are now our Library Assistants, Claudia got promoted to Teen Librarian, and our new supervisor, Alicisa, just joined us this week.
We’ve got lots of great events planned for the teens in 2011. More books, CDs, and DVDs! More programs! And we’ve even started planning Summer Reading already.
As always, we would love to hear your suggestions on ways to improve the library!

Back to School! I hope all you students are enjoying being back in school (as I’m sure your parents are enjoying their quiet homes).
Just to remind everyone, even though Summer Reading is over, we’ve still got lots of great programs. Look what’s coming up!

Scheduled Teen Events for September (Wednesdays @4pm, ages 12-18)
9/1 Craft Day- Make a dreamcatcher keychain and a silly shell creature
9/8 Gaming- Play Board Games and Wii
9/15 GLEEK out!- Sing along with your favorite Season 1 GLEE episodes
9/22 Craft Day- Henna Tattoos
9/29 Anime Club- Come watch Basilisk and discuss Anime

We will also be holding Crafty Kids (ages 4-12) on alternating Thursdays (9/9 and 9/23) at 4pm

Mid-Summer Update

Well, we’re about halfway through with Summer Reading and things are going great. We’ve had over 650 kids & teens sugn up for summer reading. Events have been at maximum capicity. We’ve given away hundreds of dollars in prizes.

And we’re not done yet!

Still to come is Wizard Week, the Central Florida Zoo, Stormtroopers, and lots more! We’re also still collecting for Teens for Troops, so keep donating!

For those of you interested in the James Patterson books, you can read the new Daniel X, Demons & Druids, online!

We have now completed the first 10 days of Summer Reading. We’ve had some amazing events so far. Coming up we have the Reptile Show (Sat. @2), Tween’s Camp Half Blood (Tues. @ 4:30), and Teen’s New Moon (Wed @ 4:30).

Summer Reading has officially begun!

Did you know know you can win awesome prizes at the library?

We’re raffling off prizes every week throughout the summer!

Prizes include Gift Cards (itunes, Books a Million, Movie Theaters, Target, etc) and book series (House of Night, Blueford High, Harry Potter, and much more!).

You can get raffle tickets in lots of ways!
- by coming to the library
- by coming to our events & programs
- by checking out books
- by reviewing books

- by volunteering

You can earn so many tickets! Each ticket is a chance to win!

Go to the children’s desk to sign up for summer reading and start getting your tickets. Everyday you come to the library you get a ticket!
